Location

While people might typically envisage Queensland when imagining quality Aussie beaches, the greater Adelaide region's Maslin Beach is a quality stretch of waterfront in its own right, encircled by surprisingly majestic cliffs and a long, clean main section of sand. Although it's typically best known as Australia's first-ever official nude beach, this slice of waterfront beauty has far more going for it than this simple gimmick - the beach boasts crystal-clear water, sheltered and calm conditions, and the option for a lovely scenic walk along the clifftops. The sand here is soft and typically kept free of pollution - a testament to the pride and care locals take in keeping it clean.

Maslin Beach is also home to characteristically beautiful sunsets of an evening, and the reflection of the late afternoon glow reflecting off the calm waters makes for one of Adelaide's best photo opportunities for the aspiring photographer. Those looking to avoid enjoying its offerings "el-naturale" and who prefer to stay clad can stick to the northern, family-friendly end of the beach.
