The Kings Of Punjab Erina

We decided to set up the King of Punjab restaurant in Erina because we wanted to serve traditional Indian food in an authentic environment. But why did we call it the “King of Punjab?” If you’re not familiar, the Indian state of Punjab is located in the northwestern part of the subcontinent, bordering Jammu and Kashmir. It is a place that is steeped in history, mainly cultivated, and farming is the leading activity. With crop rearing being so important, it’s not surprising that there is so much focus on food, and many authentic recipes have originated in Punjab before spreading around the world. Looking back in time, the King of Punjab (Ranjit Singh) was definitely a “foodie,” and his enthusiasm rubbed off on his people. Over time, the population developed these traditional forms of Indian food, adding their own special twist to form the basis of what we know and love today.
