A favoured secret of locals looking for a way to cool off on the Gold Coast, the Currumbin Rock Pools offer quality natural swimming as well as picnic facilities in Currumbin Valley. Situated roughly a 25 minute drive inland from the Gold Coast Highway at Palm Beach, the rock pools can be reached via a scenic road that winds its way past farmland and through shady forested delves. The Currumbin Rock Pools are fairly easy to miss if you're not careful - keep an eye out for a small general store and adjacent parking area (there are almost always cars here to spot) and you'll know you have arrived. Just down a small series of steps is a comfortable, grassy area that sits alongside a creek that runs into a single main "pool" which can be used for swimming.

Children can often be seen diving off the side of the rocks into the pool below - a fun but risky activity - while the calmer among us can spread out a picnic blanket and take advantage of the shaded areas and picnic tables. There are also toilet facilities here, and any small items can be purchased from the store / cafe across the road; however it's often best to pack your own lunch to eat or cook. A great spot for swimming that serves as a nice alternative to the beach, it can get busy during holiday seasons but is seldom overcrowded.
