Eungella National Park

Located just an hour out of Mackay, Eungella National Park is bursting with incredible scenery, lookouts and flora and fauna. An idea day trip destination or overnight stay, you could easily lose a few hours wandering around this popular national park. Featuring a number of waterfalls and volcanic boulder formations on a background of the region's iconic can fields, Eungella National Park is the longest stretch of sub-tropical rainforest in the whole country.

There are a number of walking trails winding through the park, most notably the popular Finch Hatton Gorge trails, and swimming holes and fishing hotspots including Eungella and Kinchant Dam, as well as numerous café nestled in the Pioneer Valley offering a good meal with an even better view. Make your way up to the Eungella Chalet to enjoy a meal while admiring the incredible views over the Pioneer Valley, or enjoy alfresco rainforest dining at the Platypus Lodge Restaurant where you can enjoy breakfast with wild platypus.

The park is known for its local wildlife, especially the adorable platypus who are often seen frolicking in the waters throughout the park. Lace up your walking shoes and charge your camera because Eungella National Park is gem to explore and an experience you won't forget.
