Skippers Canyon Jet also have exclusive access to the Sainsbury Gold Claim and Winky’s Gold Mining Museum that play host to a vast array of gold mining relics.

The drive into Skippers Canyon is an adventure in itself as the bus winds its way down the historic Skippers Road which was chiselled out of the sheer rock face by the miners over 130yrs ago. Then, on the jet boat ride, the adrenaline really starts to surge as the boat is skillfully manoeuvred just inches from the steep canyon walls with speeds in excess of 80km/h and a series of 360 degree spins. Disused gold mining equipment still remains in the river today plus a number of Lord of the Rings locations can be seen throughout the trip.

Skippers Canyon Jet offers a great balance of stunning scenery, local history and a thrilling jet boat ride just a short drive from central Queenstown.

This is a true backcountry experience - getting there is half the fun!
We recommend using the toilet in the Station Building before departing Queenstown
